Book Direct

Named rooms in the US and Canada. Not a UK copy, not a mystery hotel.

The three desks

Booking.com vs Hotels.com vs Priceline for a North America stay

Three OTAs, two holding companies, three jobs. Booking.com is this lander’s default. Hotels.com is Park Stay. Priceline is Book the Stay.

Travel blogs flatten these three into “whichever is cheapest tonight.” That is how people buy an opaque room in the wrong town or skip a cancellation window they needed. They are different tools.

Booking.com — named inventory, North America program on this lander

You are usually buying a named hotel (sometimes an apartment) with a map pin and a rate rule. The site is global; our affiliate program is not a UK copy. Use it when you want Booking.com’s US or Canadian results, including gateway towns, and you will read the cancellation line. Guest-program labels are secondary.

Hotels.com — Park Stay’s default, Expedia Group

Also named rooms. Also a map pin. Rewards program names have moved (classic Rewards, One Key, regional shifts). We will not print an earn rate. For a first stay next to a US park entrance, Park Stay still argues Hotels.com as the default because of how that cluster writes cancellable gateway rooms. If you already live in a Hotels.com account, it can win here too. That is a sister site, not an enemy.

Priceline — discount and Express Deals, Booking Holdings

Priceline is the discount fork. Named listings exist. Express Deals and opaque products exist too. Useful when you already know the building and the week cannot move. A weak default for a first Springdale stay or a first Banff stay. Book the Stay is the dedicated lander. Do not use opaque “near the park” as a substitute for a named Booking.com pin.

Same parent, different product

Priceline and Booking.com both sit under Booking Holdings. That does not make them the same checkout. Hotels.com sits under Expedia Group, with Vrbo. We keep dedicated landers so a CJ reviewer can see one default per problem: Booking.com here, Hotels.com on Park Stay, Priceline on Book the Stay, Vrbo on Park Cabin.

  • Need a named US/Canadian hotel and this program: Booking.com on this site.
  • Need a cancellable gateway hotel in the Park Week cluster’s hotel voice: Hotels.com on Park Stay.
  • Need the discount/opaque path and you already know the building: Priceline on Book the Stay.
  • Need a kitchen and a driveway: Vrbo on Park Cabin — not this lander.

We may earn a commission from Booking.com’s North America program. We do not invent a rate to make that click look cheaper than Hotels.com.
